Yoga Weekend “Elemental Embodiement”

with Andrew Mournehis and rachel ellery

Excited to host Andrew Mournehis and Rachel Ellery, both teachers of mine for a yoga weekend in Zürich!

In these weekend workshops we will explore the union and integration of our western and eastern dynamics within us and embodiment through theory, philosophy, asana, movement and play.

EASTERN: (Led by Andrew):
Yoga Philosophy, Energetic Anatomy (Nadis, Chakras, Energy Fields), Yoga /Asana Practice, Deities

WESTERN: (Led by Rachel)
Anatomy and physiology of the body and how it overlaps and integrates with Eastern Teachings

It has been said in Indian Philosophy that the human body is composed of five elements called pancha bhutas (five elements) . These are agni (fire), vayu(wind), dharti(earth), jal (water) and aakash (space).

What to expect from the Weekend Workshop:

  • A Deep dive into the Philosophy of Yoga, the energetic/eastern anatomy and western anatomy.

  • Explore the western teachings of functional anatomy and how they merge and overlap effectively with the eastern teachings to bring more balance, alignment, healing and wholeness into your being and life.

  • Explore how this can be applied in your yoga asana practice and other deeper practices of yoga

  • Deeper understanding of the 5 great elements and how they affect our lives, both anatomically and energetically

  • Embody the 5 elements & anatomy together with a Deity

About Andrew

Andrew Mournehis started his career as an Optometrist looking through the “Windows of the Soul”, before giving it all up to dance and choreograph in London. This lead to an incredible opportunity to choreograph Tina Turner’s 1996 ‘Wildest Dreams’ world tour. At the peak of his career, a knee injury and visa expiry forced him to return to Australia, where he became extremely unwell and sought out a healing path. He turned to Yoga to heal his heart, mind and body. He immediately fell in Love with the practice, studied vigilantly, and in 1999 began teaching yoga to packed classes.

Andrew went on to study Transpersonal Counselling, graduating from the Phoenix Institute of Australia in 2001. He had a very clear vision that his gifts and passions were best directed in the power of group, mythology and the potent healing energy that is exchanged in each other’s stories, both personal and Universal. Being an already well respected and established yoga teacher, he spent the next decade combining his love of Yoga with his passion for healing transpersonal work to create transformative spaces for his students and participants to heal and become more whole.

Coming from a diverse and eclectic Yoga background, Andrew teaches a combination of Hatha, Bhakti and Tantra Yoga. His creative, joyful and heart-filled teaching strengthens the body, soothes and clears the mind, whilst enlivening and enriching the spirit through both postural and universal alignment. His unique teaching style is imbued with heart and soul, rich in tantric philosophy and his classes are filled with Inspiration, storytelling, mantra and the spirit of the Divine.

Andrew has spent over 20 years facilitating many healing groups, workshops, intensives and retreats both nationally and internationally working with the healing potential of Yoga, Movement, Tantra, Mythology, and Transpersonal Modalities. He brings to his work over 16 years of experience in Transpersonal Counselling and Art Therapy Techniques, 19 years of Yoga Teaching and over 25 Years experience in the Creative Arts Fields.
