Doyal is one of the amazing yoga teachers, who taught Yoga Philosophy at the Bhakti Yoga Teacher Training I joined last January in India. Sunday, June 28th 10:00-18:00

This urban day retreat will help you incorporate the principles of yoga into your daily life, both on and off the mat. In addition to learning how to stretch, fold, bend and twist like a yogi, we will learn how to harness the power of the mind and heart to think and feel like a yogi.  

Please join us as we practice asana together, sing sacred mantras in Kirtan, and discuss practical yoga philosophy.

10:30-12:00 Vinyasa Yoga Practice with Sarah

Lunch Break - Light Ayurvedic Vegan Lunch by Vivian

13:00-16:00 Yoga Philosophy Lecture with Doyal

Short break

16:15-18:00 Yin Yoga led by Sarah with live music by Doyal, followed by a Kirtan

Vinyasa Yoga by Sarah

Once your breath is set, Sarah will lead you through a powerful and energizing flow of asanas (postures) to tune into your body, calm the mind and help you feel energized through-out the day. With a focus on breathing and moving mindfully, we will target specific areas of the body. Sarah's teaching style is dynamic, yet graceful, and light-hearted with the intention to connect to your heart by cultivating strength, flexibility, and balance in both body and mind.   

Yoga Philosophy Lecture with Doyal

With Doyal you will explore the meaning of yoga and how you can lead more holistic and integrated lifestyles based on ancient Vedic teachings. These principles can help us make better choices in life, enhance our relationships, and lead to a greater sense of purpose and peace within. 

Yin Yoga led by Sarah with live music by Doyal, followed by a Kirtan

As Sarah guides you into different gentle yin yoga postures which you will hold for several minutes, Doyal will play music, and sing sacred mantras for us. To wrap the day up, we will end this session and the day with a beautiful Kirtan where we will all together chant different mantras.

FOR WHOM

This day is for everyone, beginners to advanced practitioners and teachers, who are looking to deepen their knowledge and practice and get a better understanding of “how to live your yoga practice”. On but especially off the mat.

For Yoga teachers furthermore, this weekend provides the opportunity to get inspired learn more about philosophy and learn new ways to bring the yoga philosophy into your teachings.

About Doyal

Doyal has been on a spiritual journey his entire life, seeking truth from a young age. At the age of 18, he became a monk and dedicated himself to a life of spiritual study, reflection and service.  Having lived in ashrams across the United States, he made his way to New York City to help start what is now known as the Bhakti Center, a place for spiritual learning and community. After 10 years of monastic life, he transitioned out of monk-hood. In 2013 he met his wife and is now married, continuing to live and serve in New York City as the Program Director for the Bhakti Center. In addition to leading regular Kirtan trainings and wisdom courses in New York, Doyal oversees a team of Bhakti Center staff members who coordinate and market all programming efforts in the areas of yoga, meditation, kirtan and ayurveda.  He also serves as a community organizer and counselor. 

In 2017 Doyal completed his 200 hour Yoga Teacher certification from Supersoul Academy, is a trained marma therapist, and currently studies clinical psychology at Hunter College. 

Doyal’s love for music has made Kirtan and devotional singing a critical part of his own spiritual practice.  His greatest joy is to connect with others and help bring the principles of yoga and spirituality to life for others.  In this spirt he conducts workshops, trainings and retreats throughout the world as a means to share yoga and spirituality with everyone.

About Sarah

Sarah found her way to Yoga during a stressful and tough time in her life, in her mid-twenties. The time on the mat gave her back, that beautiful feeling of wholeness, of peace and surrender.

What began with getting to know her body became getting to know and understand her whole being more and more. Yoga shows her again and again that there are no limits to growth as life changes constently. Yoga became her lifestyle as her awareness grew through the daily practices and rituals. The trust she gain in herself and life through theses practices help her in all areas of life and ultimately help her to life a happier more consicous life.

This is what she would like to pass on to others and accompany people on the way to a better physical and mental health. No matter who they are or where they come from, Sarah beliefes that there is a Yoga for everyone.

Sarah sees Yoga as a lifestyle through which we can come back to who we really are.

Trained in Krama Vinyasa Yoga, Advanced Vinyasa, Yin Yoga and Meditation the journey into Bhakti Yoga she went on this year deepend and conntected everything.
