BHAGAVAD GITA and THE TALES OF KRISHNA

These 2 workshops have been designed for anyone on the yoga journey, whether you’re a teacher with many years of experience, or a student just taking their first steps on the path. It draws on specific examples from philosophy, mythology and yogic literature to inspire, uplift, and connect you to the most potent and powerful examples of strength and inspiration.

Join us as we explore and embody different aspects of the yogic path which will inform your practice, your classes, and your life as we learn from history’s most amazing teachings.

  • Part 1 - Philosophy “THE WISDOM OF BHAGAVAD GITA” 10:00 - 13:00

In a love-starved world, the hidden message of love in the Bhagavad Gita is much needed. We are all spiritual beings, entitled to rejoice in eternal love with the divine, but how can we keep that love uncontaminated by selfishness, ego centric intentions and misidentification with illusion? The battlefield setting of the Gita calls all of us to become spiritual warriors and conquer the selfish lower self with the Selfless Higher Self.

The Bhagavad Gita is one of the most revered texts in the Hindu religion and also in the Yoga tradition. We will draw out some of the most beautiful and illuminating practices and paths that can be brought into our yoga practice and into our teachings.

Believed to be written around 500 BC, the Bhagavad Gita is one of the most revered texts in the Hindu religion and also in the Yoga tradition.

Set on a battlefield, the Gita has been interpreted as an allegory for the ethical and moral struggles of human life, and a philosophical manual on how to live, love and serve. Gandhi referred to it as his "spiritual dictionary" and its call for selfless action inspired his leadership, as it did with Martin Luther King Jnr.

Join us for a taste of the delightful essence and tone of this Sacred Text.

Lunch Break 13:00 - 14:00

  • Part 2 - Philosophy “KRISHNA, The Early Years” 14:00 - 17:00

Krishna as an integral character in the Epic tale of the Bhagavad Gita plays a Crucial Role in the unfolding Mastery of Love that is available to us all.

However he, like us, had many experiences and tales in his early years that shaped and informed who he came to be in the Gita.

In this afternoon session we will

  • Unpack the early myths of Krishna and how they relate to us

  • How these early years, like our early years, are vital in who we become in the Great Epic of our own tale.

  • Discover and Reveal the Blessings and Gifts of the Bhagavad Gita and learning ways that we too can be the truest and most potent embodiments of Love

Dance of the Deities “The Ecstatic Dance of Radhe/Krishna Love”
Krishna, the God of Ecstatic Joy, reveals the Superpower of Love within us all.

The day will end and crescendo in a Divine, Uplifting and Inspiring Dance of Love that will leave us feeling like we can re-enter the world with renewed hope, joy and inspiration to make a positive contribution in the world. (More details about what Dance of the Deities is below).

This lead to an incredible opportunity to choreograph Tina Turner’s 1996 ‘Wildest Dreams’ world tour. He turned to Yoga to heal his heart, mind and body. He immediately fell in Love with the practice, studied vigilantly, and in 1999 began teaching yoga to packed classes.

Andrew went on to study Transpersonal Counselling, graduating from the Phoenix Institute of Australia in 2001. He had a very clear vision that his gifts and passions were best directed in the power of group, mythology and the potent healing energy that is exchanged in each other’s stories, both personal and Universal. Being an already well respected and established yoga teacher, he spent the next decade combining his love of Yoga with his passion for healing transpersonal work to create transformative spaces for his students and participants to heal and become more whole.
